What Fiberstone Is

Fiberstone is ground stone bound with fibreglass resin. It gives the surface, colour depth and visual weight of concrete or natural stone, but at a fraction of the actual weight, and it does not chip and crack the way terracotta and thin ceramic do. For a square pot that advantage is obvious the moment you lift it: the flat sides and wide base of a cube make a stone version extremely heavy, while the fiberstone equivalent can be carried through a house by one person.

Cube and Tapered Profiles

Two shapes dominate this selection. A true cube has equal height and width and suits clipped box, bay, small olives and other structural evergreens. A tapered square narrows towards the base and reads as lighter, which works better in smaller courtyards and indoor corners. Both sit flush against walls, glazing and fences, and both line up neatly in rows — the reason square pots are the default choice for defining edges and boundaries.

Sizes and Internal Depth

The range runs from small table-top cubes for herbs and succulents to large containers for trees and multi-stem shrubs. Check internal depth and volume rather than external height: the solid rim typical of fiberstone reduces usable planting width by a few centimetres on each side, which matters when you are dropping a nursery pot straight in.

Colours and Finishes

Matt finishes show the stone texture and read as contemporary and understated; glossy versions are more decorative and bounce light in darker interiors. Black, white, grey, taupe and terrazzo effects all appear in this part of the range. Because the material is hand-finished, slight variation in texture between pots is normal — order a matched set together if the pots will stand side by side.

Drainage, Frost and Care

Outdoor fiberstone is usually supplied with pre-drilled drainage holes; indoor versions are often sealed or plugged so they can be used with an inner pot. Frost-resistant ranges can stay planted through winter, though standing the pot on feet keeps the base out of standing water and prevents staining on paving. Clean with warm water, mild detergent and a soft brush, and avoid abrasives, which dull the surface.
