What Polystone Is

Polystone is a composite of stone powder and polyresin. It behaves like a moulded stone: smooth or lightly textured, dense enough to feel substantial, but light enough to move and far less brittle than cast concrete. It also holds colour right through the material rather than only on the surface, so scuffs and knocks on an edge are much less visible than on a painted or coated pot.

Why Black Is the Practical Choice

Black recedes against paving, brickwork and dark flooring and pushes foliage forward, which is why it is the default in planting schemes where the plant, not the pot, is the feature. It is also the easiest finish to keep looking presentable outdoors: soil splashes, hard-water marks and the general grime of a season show far less than on pale or textured finishes. In a commercial entrance or a busy doorway that difference is worth more than it sounds.

Shapes and Sizes in the Range

Black polystone appears across cubes and tapered squares, cylinders and tall columns, bowls and troughs, from small table sizes to containers big enough for olive trees and mature shrubs. Matt versions look contemporary and architectural; glossy ones add a decorative edge that suits receptions and showrooms. Use the shape and size filters to narrow the selection, and check internal depth before matching a pot to a plant.

Indoor and Outdoor Use

The same pot often works in both settings, which makes it easy to run one finish from a reception area out onto a terrace. Outdoor versions normally come with drainage holes; indoor versions are usually sealed or supplied with a plug for use with an inner pot. Check frost resistance on the product page if the pot will stay planted outside all winter.

Cleaning and Long-Term Care

A wipe with a damp cloth or a rinse with a hose is usually enough. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents, which can dull a matt surface. In exposed positions, raise pots on feet so the base is not sitting in water, and ballast lightweight sizes with gravel before adding compost so wind cannot tip a tall pot.
